The main purpose of SCUFFY is to place the 2024s into small communities within dorms. You can get to know these people without all the weirdness of formal events, ask upperclassmen all your questions and find others (even other 24s) to hang out or pset with! The small communities and its dynamics may vary greatly from one dorm to another so check them out below and see which one you'd like to be involved in!

Baker

Subcommunities will be split into floors, consisting of upperclassmen leading them. Initial assignments will be random (excluding friends wishing to be placed together) and there will be a switching period a week or two after initial placements.

Burton Conner

The subcommunities are the living groups in Burton Conner, organized by floor. Each floor is tight-knit and a great community to live in, with a wide range of interests and personalities. Events in the sub-communities will be publicized to all 2024s placed in BC, and you will be able to explore the many diverse communities that make up the magical beast that is Burton Conner and find the community you feel most comfortable with. However, you will also nominally be assigned a sub-community initially, guaranteeing that there will be a community that is there to support you.

EAsT camPUS

EC's subcommunities are based on existing hall communities, and will consist of upperclassmen who have volunteered to help build community with all of you. More information on the existing hall communities can be found on the EC website under halls.

MacGregor

MacGregor has 10 different subcommunities ready to meet all of you, each consisting of 4-12 upperclassmen. The subcommunities consist of smaller groups of residents who are excited to connect with you and offer support throughout your first semester.

Maseeh Hall

Maseeh Hall will have subcommunities based on teams of mentors that interact with first-years through weekly events and interactions, care packages, etc. There will be encouragement to meet upperclassmen from different floors and other ways to get to meet more individuals outside of your immediate team.

McCormick Hall

The 7 subcommunities within McCormick Hall will provide first-years with a space to bond through study breaks and mentorship. Please note that these subcommunities are only open to those identifying as females!

New House (Numbered Houses)

New House subcommunities will be based on the numbered houses existent within the residence hall. Each numbered house has its own fun group of awesome people, with various interests and traditions.

Next House

The subcommunities within Next House are associated with the various wings of this residence hall. They are not mutually exclusive nor binding, but the small size hopes to provide an encouraging environment for you all to interact with each other and the upperclassmen.

Random

Subcommunities in this dorm are based on the various floors. Each has its own unique culture and members who are happy to be a part of each subcommunity and bond over shared/mutual interests!

Simmons

The subcommunities within Simmons Hall will be based on lounges, or groups of individuals that spend time together during a usual semester through various social activities.

<aside> 💡 What the small communities looks like depends on the dorm! All the dorms are working right now to figure out how things will work. We'll be able to share more info on that very soon!!
